What is Advisory?

All Junior Jets take an advisory class that is focused on student's personal, social, and emotional growth. The activities vary slightly from class to class, but are based on the following themes:

  • Social justice
  • College and career exploration
  • Physical health and it's correlation to mental health
  • The teenage brain
  • Smart technology use
  • Multicultural appreciation
  • Environmental awareness

A week of advisory is typically structured in the following way:

Mondays & Tuesdays - Discovery Days (focused on above topics)

Wednesdays - Jet Pride Day (focused on JETS SOAR curriculum)

Thursdays - Structured Study Hall

Fridays - Active Fridays (focused on physical education and/or nutrition)

Junior Jets Enrollment - 2019-2020

The open enrollment deadline of January 18th has passed. However, you may still complete an application and have your child added to the wait list. Applications can be accessed by clicking here. You will be contacted as space becomes available.

If you completed the application by the January 18th deadline, you received an email on Friday, January 25th with information on next steps. Families have until February 8th to accept their spot at Junior Jets before it is given to the next student on the wait list.

Please note: If you are not currently enrolled in an AUSD school, you will need to register with the district as well. You can do that by visiting the Alameda Unified School District's website starting Monday, March 4. Fill out the Junior Jets application, and then register with AUSD in March.
