Michelle Mason

I was born and raised in Idaho but have called California my home for the last nine years. Prior to teaching, I was a manager at a homeless shelter for young adults and I have always been passionate about working with young people. I’m thrilled to be teaching middle school at Encinal!

Teaching/Educational Philosophy

All students come into the classroom with skills for learning. It is my hope to help them use and develop these skills while adding to them as they explore, inquire, and learn.  I believe students are most engaged in a classroom that creates a positive community. Kindness is key in my room.

Personal Note

It’s no surprise, but I love to read. I’m always looking for my next favorite book and have been known to stay up all night to finish something I really enjoy.
