The Alumni of Encinal High School represent a diverse group spanning more than a half century.  The things we’ve seen and the eyes we have seen them through gives each of us a unique perspective on the world we live in.

We share the launching point for our adult lives and the Jet Pride we hold.   This lives within us as we went into the world, and in many cases sent our children and even grandchildren through the same portal.

One major difference affecting that beloved portal is funding.  As most of us went through the system, funding was abundant and the needs of teachers and administrators were met.  Recent economic circumstances statewide have imposed major challenges, for even the most talented and accomplished teachers and administrators to continue that tradition.

Booster organizations of different departments and programs at the school are providing significant financial and assistive contributions to many school programs even as parents are asked to help with donations of paper, Kleenex, ink cartridges and the like to provide classroom needs.

Two organizations at Encinal are providing school wide support.  The Alumni and the PTSA, formerly PTA, are working hard to fill needs unmet by traditional school funding.

PTSA is participating in scrip programs with each of the three major grocery outlets in town.   You can, with very little effort make a difference by participating.

Lucky has a shares card which, when presented during a transaction will trigger a 3% donation on eligible purchases up to their $2,000,000 threshold.  There is no registration involved and the cards never expire.

By enrolling your Safeway Rewards card with, Safeway will make tiered donations based on your volume of eligible purchases.  You can support up to three different organizations.  You can also enroll other credit cards so that when they are used at participating retailers, further contributions will be made, some in double digit percentages.

Nob Hill has a Quality of Life card which when presented triggers a tiered donation based on item eligibility and volume as with the eScrip at Safeway.  The card requires an online registration and to be presented at each transaction.

The Nob Hill Quality of Life and Lucky Shares cards can be obtained either in the Office through Teresa or by contacting PTSA Scrip coordinator Andrew Huntoon. or 510 719-1363.
