    Week of May 12th

Hello Jet Families!  You may have noticed that we have a new website.  All of the websites in AUSD have been changed and updated, and like with all things, change can be hard.  But, we know, that once we get used to it, it will be easier for our families and students to find the things they are looking for.  (The calendar is currently located at the bottom of the website; click on the date to see what is happening on that particular date—this is something we are working with School Loop on, so we appreciate your patience).   A special thanks to Diana Kenney, who worked tirelessly on this project.  If you find any glitches on the website, please do not hesitate to let Tracy Allegrotti know at tallegrotti@alamedaunified.org, and we will be happy to take a look.

AP Exams continue this week with the following tests:  Calculus, English Language & Composition, Stats, World History, and Computer Science A.

The PTSA Meeting was moved to this week.  It will take place on Wednesday, May 15th at 6:30 pm in the Student Center.

The Encinal Showcase will take place on Thursday evening, May 16th from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm.  Back in the day, this evening was referred to as Open House.  We will be showcasing work, talents, and projects of our students.  Stay tuned for specifics.

Friday, May 17th is a very important date for seniors and 8th graders as community service hours must be turned in to be able to participate in year-end activities.  Community service for seniors must be turned in to Amy Keegan in the counseling office.  Community service for 8th graders must be turned in to Caroline Ardourel in the Junior Jet Office.

This Saturday, May 18th, will be The Extravaganza of the Bands.  Our band department under the leadership of Armen Phelps and the Encinal Band Boosters has been sponsoring this band review for over twenty years!  Come on down to watch the marching bands and concert bands perform and compete.  Encinal will kick off the marching band petition at 10:00 am on Pacific Avenue between Central Ave., and Third Street.  Concert bands will begin competition in the gym at 8:00 am.  The awards ceremony will begin at 3:00 pm on the football field.  Please note, there will be many street closures around the school so it might be best to ride a bike or walk if you are interested in attending.

DATE CHANGE DUE TO WEATHER- Saturday, June 28, our Alumni Club is sponsoring the 14th Annual Encinal High School Golf Tournament.  It starts at 1:00 pm at the Corica Park Complex on Bay Farm Island.  And, if you are not into golf, but want to support this event, there is a dinner following at Jim’s on the Golf Course.  For more details, please contact Tim Marr at timraymarr@yahoo.com.    All proceeds of this event go to benefit the athletic department at Encinal.  We thank our Alumni for this wonderful support.

Finally!  Attention Seniors:  If you need a final transcript sent to your prospective college that will include your 2nd-semester grades, and graduation date, please fill out a teal Final Transcript Request Form located in front of Ms. Keegan’s office.

    Jet Pride!
