    Jet blast

    August, 2019~ Updated 5:30pm on 8/6/19

Hello Jet Families and Welcome to the 19-20 School Year!!  School is just a couple weeks away, and there is a lot of information below, so get ready:

Construction:  If you approach the school you will see that Encinal is a construction site.  There are fences and trucks and no windows in the 200 building. This will be our reality for the next two years, but we are so excited for the end result.  You can see the plans in the main office. In the meantime, please read the Jet Blast and emails, as well as phone calls for updates, as well as directions on how to maneuver through the school and neighborhood.

Data Confirmation:  All families must do Data Confirmation prior to schedules being released.  Basically, this is just making sure that all emergency contacts are updated, district policies are reviewed and annual authorizations are acknowledged.  The link for this was sent to your email address and can also be reached via the Aeries Parent Portal. If you need help, please stop by the office the week of August 12th between the hours of 8:00am and 4:00pm.

Senior Pictures:  Senior pictures will take place on Monday, 8/12 through Wednesday, 8/14,  between the hours of 10:00am and 5:00pm in the cafeteria. Seniors should have been contacted by LifeTouch to schedule their picture.  If you need to schedule an appointment, please call 1-877-825-7922.

Schedule Conflicts:  We have been busy trying to remedy all scheduling conflicts.  Please check your AUSD student email to make sure you don’t have an email re: a conflict.

Orientations: Due to construction, high school orientations have been cancelled.  Tours will be available on the 16th for new students (including frosh) during schedule pick-up, and all other critical information will be communicated with students during classes and grade level assemblies the first two weeks of school.

*6th Grade Orientation:  Friday, August 16th. 8:30 until 12:00pm.  Location to be announced later.

Schedules:  Class schedules for students in grades 7-12 will be distributed on Friday, August 16th between the hours of 10:00am and 12:00pm, and between 1:30pm and 3:30pm.  Schedules can also be picked up in the main office on Saturday, August 17th between the hours of 9:00am and 12:00pm, as well as the first day of school between 7:30am and 7:55am.  Locations will be noted around campus once we have a better idea of how the construction will be proceeding.

But please remember to do the Data Confirmation!  We will not be able to issue schedules to students without it!

6th graders will have their home room classes posted on the front doors of the portables (Portables 1, 3 and 4) beginning at 7:30am on the first day of school.  This allows for our 6th grade teachers to really explain how a schedule works. Teachers will also be walking students to and from their classes the first week of school.  (After that, most 6th graders can be tour guides ...they learn very quickly!!).

First Week of School:  We will be running a regular schedule the first week of school.  The exception is that Zero Period will not start until Tuesday, August 20th.  As a reminder Zero Period starts at 6:45 each Monday through Thursday. (There is no zero period on Fridays).

    Looking Ahead:

*Back to School Night will be held on Thursday, August 29th.

*The first Home Football Game will be Friday, August 30th (middle school students must be accompanied by an adult) and Picture Day is Monday, September 9th.

*We will be populating the School Loop Calendar over the next week, so please refer to that for information on upcoming events.

Here’s to a great school year, Jets!!
